PÉCS is located in the southern part of Hungary, close to the Coratian border. It is the 5th largest city of the country. The closest airport is in Budapest which is a 2,5 hour drive from Pécs.
We advise you to travel to Budapest by flight. The most convenient way of traveling to Pécs from the airport is to order an airport shuttle. Here you can find the link to the websites of the most frequently used airport shuttle companies:
Alternatively, you can use public transportation.
Arrival Date
You can either arrive on the 4th of July (Saturday) or the 5th of July (Sunday). The magnificent Pécs Light Festival takes place that weekend, which is why it is possible for you to arrive on Saturday without any extra charge.
Local Transportation
Your programme fee includes a local bus pass, valid for the entire duration of your stay.
Dormitory placement
You will be placed in a student dormitory (Szalay László dormitory, address: Pécs, Breuer Marcell sétány 2, 7622). The dormitory is located in the city centre and you will be placed in two-bedded rooms. Each housing unit is equipped with two rooms, each featuring a private bathroom and a kitchen. Room allocation will be done randomly by the dormitory unless you have a special request to be placed with someone close to you. The dormitory provides a bedding set; however, if you feel more comfortable having your own, you are welcome to bring a set with you. In addition, the dormitory provides utensils (e.g., plates, cups, forks, etc.) We recommend bringing with you a set of towels, toiletries and hairdryer.
