Activities planned:

The summer school examines questions of identity, culture and globalization with a focus on understanding different cultures and diverse populations. Students interact with students from different cultures and reflect on their own cultures. In addition to understanding cultural diversity, students improve their intercultural competencies through communication workshops, self-reflection and empirical research.

Topics covered:

-Research methodology;

-Academic writing and presentation skills;

-Cultural diversity in the EU;

-The role of intercultural sensitivity in well-being

-Gender issues in Europe;

-Migration and cultural sensitivity in Europe

-Political cultures and intercultural sensitivity

-Legal foundations of cultural diversity in the EU

-The importance, opportunities and good practices of cultural sensitization in higher education

-Community development

-Effective intercultural communication

-Citizenship education and lifelong learning

The students pair up and conduct a comparative, empirical research on a chosen topic, related to intercultural sensitivity. They discuss their research plan with a designated instructor, submit an academic paper with their peers and present their findings during the on-site part of the program in Pécs.
